House of Wonder.
House of wonder at stone town is a peculiar place to visit. It is nearest to the old fort. Many people call this place “place of wonders”.
Stone town is an iconic capital of Zanzibar, where you will easily find art and craft galleries, fabric stalls, and numerous coffee shops. Stone town is characterized with unique narrow streets, sided with Arabic style old buildings. It is ideal to explore this place on foot.
Jozan Forest.
The most popular visited place in Zanzibar. You will experience groups of visitors touring jozan forest, especially after 9:00 AM. Zanzibar red colobus monkeys are the main attractions in this forest. Jozan forest is the last indigenous sanctuary left in Zanzibar.
Prison Island.
Visiting this place will give you a picture of an ancient colonial rule. Here is where slaves were detained. As per history, the building ruins are said to have been built in the late 1800’s. Main current attraction at Prison Island is to see sanctuary of large tortoises. Distance from stone town to Prison Island is 5 km, and can be accessed by boat. You are advised to take sun block glasses for snorkeling and sea winds.
Spice Tour.
As the name spells- “spice tour” Zanzibar boasts to have long history of productions and trade of cloves, nutmegs, cinnamon and vanilla spices. Spice tour will take you to the spice farms, where you will experience peculiar Zanzibar flavor, history of spices, varieties of spices and uses.
Paje beach.
Paje is the famous busy beach in Zanzibar. There are many hotels, bars, cafes and kite surfing companies. It is an ideal place for relaxing and get feels of diversity. For those looking active holiday in Zanzibar, Paje is the place to go. It is the best place for kite surfing in the world.
Nungwi beach.
Nungwi is one of the top Zanzibar’s beaches. Great place for sun soaking on white sands, and beach walking. Nungwi is a village found on North West tip of Zanzibar, it is a less tourist populated beach, compared to other beaches. For those looking for a little bit quiet holiday, nungwi may be an ideal place.
Forodhan Market.
Famous as “night time food market”. Located in stone town. It is a busy place at night, here you will get fresh grilled fish, fresh local produce, including meat and vegetables. Popular food is sea food. Forodhan is a popular food market for tourists to taste Zanzibar’s food flavor.
Sultan’s Palace Museum.
A must visit place in stone town. The palace is overlooking the ocean; it was built in the 19th century as a home for Sultan and his family. Today the palace is a museum for showcasing remains of Sultan treasures.
The old Fort.
Built in 17th century as a security land mark, defending the island from the Portuguese invaders. Old fort is located in stone town. Tourists flock to admire the ruins of the former fort. Today, vendors use this place for selling local produces.
Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1.
Pick up at the airport or sea port, and transfer to the stone town or one of the beach hotels. Relax by the pool; enjoy sumptuous dinner and overnight stay. DAY 2.
After breakfast, excursion to explore treasures of stone town start. Our guide will take you straight to Jozani Forest, house of wonders, old fort, sultan’s palace and spice tour. Lunch at one of the best restaurants in town. After the day tour in stone town, it is time to change environment, we will either take you for dinner at the beach, or enjoy local food market delicacy within stone town.
DAY 3.
Excursion will start in the morning, after breakfast. Visit Prison Island, and spice plantations, to learn productions of spices and history. Lunch in stone town, then head to Paje beach for sun soaking, surfing, snorkeling and total relaxation. Diner at Paje. Paje is the best place for kite surfing in the world
DAY 4.
Walking tour in stone tow, shopping, leisure time. Optional, you can tell us a place where you didn’t get enough time, and maximize your time now. Then transfer to the airport or seaport.
